John Long Planning Ltd is an independent planning consultancy providing bespoke town planning services to a wide range of clients. We are led by John Long, a chartered town planner with over 30 years’ town planning experience. John established the consultancy in September 2017 following a successful career in the private and public sector. John has a proven track record and a strong reputation in the local and wider market as a ‘go to’ planning consultant. John is a member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
We offer a range of planning services including pre-application advice; preparation and management of planning applications; preparation of planning statements/briefs; local plan promotions and representations; planning appraisals; due diligence assessments; planning appeals; public consultation; and general planning advice.
Our clients include landowners; individuals; businesses; promoters; small, medium and national developers; property consultants and the education sector. Our projects include major urban extensions (4000 homes); medium and smaller scale housing developments; leisure developments; commercial developments; and University refurbishment schemes.

John set up John Long Planning in September 2017, following a successful 10-year period at Bidwells, where he reached the position of Partner and co-managed the Norwich Planning Team. Prior to Bidwells, John held planning roles at North Kesteven District Council, the Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk, and the Government Office for the East of England. He is currently involved in a number of planning schemes across the East of England and further afield.
